In 2026, the process for appointing new Swimming Southland Board members will change from previous years. Appointments will be made through a Board Appointments Panel (BAP) in accordance with Clause 8.3(b) of the Swimming Southland Constitution.
The primary reason for this change is to ensure that new Board appointments are based on the skills, experience and expertise needed to complement the existing Board. This approach allows Swimming Southland to identify and fill any gaps within the current Board structure, helping to strengthen governance, leadership and the long-term sustainability of our organisation.
The Board Charter set out below must be formally acknowledged and signed by each member of the Swimming Southland Board.
All Board Members are required to adhere to the provisions and expectations outlined within the Charter. The Charter will be signed at the first meeting of the newly constituted Board, confirming each member’s commitment to uphold its principles and governance responsibilities throughout their term of office.
